Unapproved Change: Configuration Management in the Datacenter
Toronto, Canada - Aug 9, 2011 - Managing approved and unapproved change on IT systems is critical for the early detection of configuration issues, and to help determine the root-cause of application failures. This is especially important in virtualized Solaris environments, where systems can easily be resized on-the-fly to alleviate problems on one virtual machine, which may inadvertently impact the performance of another.

Halcyon introduces Neuron Configuration Manager, as a core component of the Halcyon Neuron Management Suite, to automate the collection of configuration metrics for a wide range of IT assets and quickly identify the most important changes. Staff receive in-browser and email reports of assets that have stopped tracking approved profiles, and interactive and CLI-based snapshots allow them to quickly compare them with known-good configurations. Neuron Configuration Manager also includes a highly adaptable analysis and export engine, making it easy to integrate with other CMDB and archival tools. Learn more and download now.

Unlock the Potential of the Latest Solaris Virtualization Features
Toronto, Canada - Jan 14, 2011 - Halcyon extends their Neuron Management Suite to include support for the latest features of Oracle Solaris Zones/Containers and Oracle VM for SPARC (LDOMs). Advanced discovery options allow users to map out system topology and virtual-to-physical relationships for all their Solaris servers, easing the daily management of large volumes of virtual machines. Graphical mapping of these parent-child relationships also aids in root-cause analysis of performance problems common to virtualized systems.

Enhancements have also been added for the latest versions of Oracle Solaris 10 and Oracle Solaris 11 Express to include tracking of ZFS filesystem health and performance. This includes performance tuning information about the Adaptive Replacement Cache (ARC) as well as tracking of more advanced space-saving options such as deduplication. Improved ZFS visibility allows administrators to squeeze the most out of their storage infrastructure, and provides early-warning of bottlenecks that may impact several systems in highly consolidated environments.
